Get your vision back on track!
Do you feel your vision just can’t be corrected with glasses or contacts? You may have KERATOCONUS. Our Keratoconus exams ensure that you receive the best treatment, considering the severity of the case and your individual situation.
Depending on the severity of the condition, there are a number of options for treatment – including scleral lenses, eyeglasses and customized soft lenses.
WHAT IS KERATOCONUS?
In short, Keratoconus is a treatable condition of the cornea – our eye’s clear front layer. In some individuals, that layer can degrade to the extent where, rather than a round surface, it becomes a conical shape – hence the name keratoCONUS! This affects how your eyes receive light and form images. Due to keratoconus, vision becomes blurry.

COMMON SYMPTOMS:
- Reduced vision even with eyeglasses or contacts
- Ghosting image
- Streaks or halos seen around lights

HOW DO WE DIAGNOSE KERATOCONUS?
Topography. Like the earth, our eyes have hills and valleys that affect our vision. We are able to determine the presence and extent of Keratoconus by analyzing the topography of your eyes.
HOW DO WE TREAT KERATOCONUS?
Depending on the severity of the condition, there are a number of options to treat Keratoconus.
- In our clinic, we offer treatment with three different products:
- Eyeglasses: Check out our brands here.
Soft Contact Lenses: Learn about our Contact Lens Exams here. - Scleral Lenses

WHAT ARE SCLERAL LENSES?
Larger than typical soft contacts, scleral lenses rest only to the white part of your eye (the Sclera). Scleral lenses are designed to leave space between the back of the lens and the cornea, while the outer edges of the lens rest on the sclera.
In the past, you may have been told you cannot wear contacts if you have Keratoconus, as traditional contact lenses rest directly on the damaged cornea, moving on the surface of the eye with each blink. However, scleral lenses are much more gentle on your eyes. Each time the lenses are applied, the space between the back of the lens and the cornea is filled with saline fluid, ensuring an ongoing source of comfort and lubrication for the eye.
With our technology, we are fortunate to be able to design these lenses specifically for you, ensuring they fit the unique shape of your eye. For this reason, they are widely known to provide superior comfort and vision.

HAPPY PATIENTS
The Eye Geeks staff is superb! They are very friendly and welcoming. Earlier this year I was diagnosed with Keratoconus, and having Dr. Diep help me out this entire year on trying to find the right solution of scleral lenses to my eye was quite an experience. Being a first timer in wearing both soft and hard lenses, Dr. Diep truly was the best guide to me through this. If you are dealing with Keratoconus, Eye Geeks can definitely help you out with that. It may be a newer service but I can without a doubt say that I trust them with this kind of condition.

The optometrist is so friendly, suggestive, smart, caring, and overall on top of making you feel relaxed and comfortable to come back. In over 27 years, I finally switched optometrist and it takes a ton for me to find another and I’m glad I did.
